Two weeks to go and then shooting starts on Refraction. Everything appears to be on track, locations are locked down, just awaiting conformation on one. I should have it on Tuesday. The finally Draft of the Script is complete. Cast, Crew and extras are all ready to go. Shooting Schedule will be completed by this weekend. My main concern at the moment is actually props and costume, I need to have 3 face book type pages made up as a prop for 3 of the characters, I also need to sort out 2 of the 5 costumes, a secondary concern is finances, the budget is really tight at the moment, ie €0.00, I hoping in 2 weeks to have enough cash to pay for, some props, food for everyone and travel expenses. Below is the locations of "Derelict House" in final scene.

Ok we have had the first read through, it went really well, a small amount of editing on the dialogue is needed. On the location front, we have the smoking section location (Martello Smoking Section) and I waiting to hear back from the Backbar (Porterhouse), if that falls through I have two more options Jim Doyles or Chrissy D's. Also the dates of shooting have changed to 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Febraury 2016. So getting there
Finally we have the dates for filming, shooting should start 22nd January 2016, all the actors have being casted and there is going to be a read through later on today. Also I have few appointments to view a number of locations. So hopefully by tomorrow there will be a lock down of most of the production.
Ok so far, on the grad film side of things, Actors have being cast, location need to be finalised and a general read through of the script needs to happen. I'm delighted that I have a game design student helping me out on the social media site interface that needs to be used in the film, at the moment we have a semi working copy, that we our going to call "SpaceBar". On a completely different note, I finally got blender to work and have got my first 4 second animation up. And here is the link to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdDhqWBnsVw Well we had the open casting there on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Tuesday in the city center and the Wednesday was here in Bray. Overall I think it was a success, the amount of actors that responded to it was probably about 30, 27 actually made it to the audition and I'm not sure of the amount of actors that wanted to send on their showreels, because the unfortunately couldn't make it. Personally and for Refraction in specifically, I liked the look of a few of them for one main actor (Hazel), and the two supporting actors (Steven) and (Sara), I've only had a second look at half of the auditions and I also got some ideas of from it as well about some of the actors to play (Jack). Also Naoise who is playing (Eric) auditioned and this just confirmed that I want to use him as the lead in refraction. On a side note, now that I can semi visualise the actors, I really need to get the finger out an get this production moving. Plans for this week is redraft the script, building the character towards the possible actors, do a shot list and find locations.
On Tuesday 24-11 and Wednesday 25-11, we shot for a competition called "Frame of Mind", this was a 3 fold plan. Firstly off we wanted to get footage for the actors show reel, next off I was looking to do a rehearsal for the crew that will be used on Refraction. Lastly we were looking to have a piece that we would be happy to enter into the competition "Frame of Mind". On the first point, we definitely got footage for the Megan's show reel, I have to say, Megan performance was really good. The second point was very useful as it gave, a practice run, and with a small amount of tweeking, I think we have a really good team, that work quickly under pressure, direction will need a slight bit of work, but all n all it was a success. Lastly the entry was in on time, unfortunately we left to little time for post production, so although I'm content with the entry, it has being agreed to do a second edit, trying to get the emotion into it. I most say a very successful project.
Last Thursday, the pitch for Refraction was done, I felt that the process helped definitely focus the film and highlighted the amount of work that still needs to go into it. Today we are trying to book the rooms for open casting which will take place the week of the 7th December. We have a location already sorted in Bray, and looking at getting Fimbase or the Stags Head for a second day of casting.
